The 2009-built liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker Energy Confidence has transported the first shipment of LNG produced by the Western Australia’s Gorgon project to an LNG terminal in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
Featuring a length of 289 meters and a width of 49 meters, the tanker arrived at the Ohgishima LNG Terminal, operated by Japan’s natural gas provider Tokyo Gas, where it unloaded some 70,000 tons of LNG.
According to AIS data provided by MarineTraffic, the 75,891 dwt vessel is currently on its way back to the Australian Gorgon facility, where it is scheduled to arrive by the end of September.
Tokyo Gas and energy company Chevron, the operator of Gorgon LNG, concluded a sale and purchase agreement and an agreement regarding participation in September 2009.
This is the fourth delivery of LNG from projects in which Tokyo Gas has secured participation rights, following the agreement on the Darwin LNG project, the Pluto LNG project and the Queensland Curtis LNG project, according to the company.
With this delivery, Tokyo Gas now receives LNG from 12 projects in five countries.
